Coach Chase had an early passion for wrestling, which led him to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing as an adult. He started training at National Kickboxing in 2007 and participated in a number of jiu-jitsu tournaments as well as his first MMA fight in October 2009. He was awarded the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission Fight of the Year award in 2010.
After a total of 13 professional MMA fights, he was invited to Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand to try out for their professional team.
Coach Chase retired from MMA in 2015, and restarted is jiu-jitsu journey at Bairro Martial Arts in 2022. “With the help of Barrio,” Chase says, “I was able to change my life around. I lost 80 lbs and found my love for combat sports and fitness again, along with a new passion for teaching!”
