Professor Curtis started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2008 at Real Self Defense Center in Edmonton.
From 2013-2016, he lived in Cranbrook, BC, driving over two hours one way to train out of Kalispell, Montana under Travis Davison. “I would travel multiple times a week to get to classes, staying overnight or driving home the same day,” says Curtis. “The drive was about 2-2.5h one way. During that time, I would also attend competitions in the North West of the United States, traveling with the people from Kalispell to these events. That continued until we moved back to Edmonton in 2016 where I started training at the Edmonton SBG facility.”
Professor Curtis has competed at the IBJJF World Masters in 2017 and has been teaching jiu-jitsu since 2018. He received his black belt in 2020. Curtis joined our community in 2024, and is excited to continue his journey teaching and training at Bairro Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
