My teaching philosophy consists of instilling the core concepts and techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in beginners so that they develop a strong foundation. From there, new learners can develop their own unique styles and approaches. For novice and more advanced practitioners, I like to enforce technical proficiency and develop an attack-style mentality, including attacking from both top and bottom positions and focusing on the principles of base, balance, posture and leverage.
The lifestyle and cerebral nature of jiu-jitsu pushes me to keep training and initially sparked my interest in teaching. I love that this sport provides me also with an opportunity to continually meet new people and build a community based on a common interest. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a martial art. If you choose to adopt the lifestyle and principles, it can change your life for the better.
The vision behind starting BAIRRO was to create a team and community environment that was open and accessible to a variety of different people. Whether you are a parent looking to start an active lifestyle, a “9 to 5er” looking for a change of routine, or an athlete desiring competition, BAIRRO will help you accomplish your goals.
