Professor James

James Pugsley is a passionate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and instructor with over 17 years of experience in the art. James started his BJJ journey in 2004 and received his black belt from highly-respected BJJ black belt, Rodrigo Munduruca.

As an instructor, James focuses on developing his students’ fundamental skills and improving their overall technique. He believes that the key to success in BJJ lies in mastering the basics and building a strong foundation of fundamental skills that can be built upon over time.
James is always looking for ways to improve his own skills and the skills of his students. He believes in maintaining a growth mindset which he applies to BJJ to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques, strategies and training methods.

Aside from his BJJ expertise, James has trained and competed in multiple martial arts dating back to 1989. This includes Judo, Karate, and Kickboxing.

James is a dedicated instructor who is committed to helping his students achieve their goals, whether that be competing at a higher level, improving their overall health and fitness, or strengthening their mindset. His teaching style is approachable, supportive, and focused on helping his students reach their full potential on and off the mat.
