Kids in our program are part of something special. Our Tots Jiu-Jitsu program in Edmonton empowers kids to believe in themselves by teaching them practical skills they can use both to prevent bullying and develop a strong athletic foundation for future success both on and off the mats.
Many kids that struggle with traditional team sports excel at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our kids still train as a team, helping each other learn and grow. However, Jiu-Jitsu provides an opportunity to develop self-reliance and courage on an individual level.
There is no striking in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, making it safe for kids to train every day. Kids learn to use techniques and leverage instead of brute force.
Engaging Class Format
Each class begins with a sport-specific warm-up. These basic movements provide a great foundation and understanding as kids grow within the sport. Next, students learn real techniques by drilling with their teammates. To put what they’ve learned to the test, class ends with controlled sparing.
Noticeable Benefits
By practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kids gain self-confidence and respect. While our focus is always on having fun while learning a new skill, our classes provide a structured environment that encourages students to work hard, respect themselves, and respect others.
Flexible Schedule
Our Tots BJJ class offers extremely flexible training, with classes every weekday. Each class is 30 minutes long to optimize the child’s focus without overwhelming them.
Kids are welcome to attend Open Mat in addition to regular classes. We provide additional training opportunities for our members looking to compete. All kids are encouraged to compete when they feel ready.
Prerequisites: Ages 4-7*
Occasionally, we accept 3 year olds in our Tots class. If you think your child is ready to learn BJJ, please reach out to us.
